Tod Boretto, a native of Napa, California, and a graduate of San Diego State in the early 1980s, embarked on a remarkable career journey. Beginning as a technical specialist in Hexcel Corporation's R&D department, he transitioned into the marketing group as a Composites Application Engineer during his decade-long tenure. His expertise flourished in the application of Advanced Composite materials, with a particular focus on military and recreational applications.
In 1994, Tod joined a startup, HST Inc., in San Diego, venturing into business ownership. Despite facing challenges, the experience proved invaluable. Under his leadership, the company grew from $4M to $48M annually in just two years, boasting over 1,100 employees across multiple plants in the U.S. and Mexico. HST Inc. produced millions of tubular composite products for diverse industries, from golf and kayak, shafts to arrows, auto drive shafts, and even contributing to Shelby automobiles.
Transitioning to Spinergy Inc. from his ownership in HST Inc., Tod played a pivotal role in the engineering development of high-performance bicycle and wheelchair wheels from 2013 to 2020. In 2006, he co-founded Victory Archery, specializing in all-carbon arrows, eventually leading to its acquisition by Aldila Inc., a major composite material and golf shaft manufacturer. Tod continued his journey as General Manager until Aldila's acquisition by Mitsubishi Chemical in 2013. Post-acquisition, he served as Head of Engineering for the Archery Division and later the Golf Shaft Division until December 2021.
Tod's contributions extend to various industries, marked by numerous patents in Archery, Golf, and Medical Instrument sectors. His most recent achievement involves a patent for innovative carbon fiber rifle barrel technology with Bergara Rifles.
